When Annandale, Va., couple James and Margaret Brooke decided to move to Greenspring, an Erickson Living community in Springfield, Va., they knew one thing for certain. They wanted to begin enjoying their new home first and worry about selling their house next. You hear a lot in the news about the state of the economy and the housing market, and that gave us some pause, says Margaret. But we knew that with the help of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, everything would work out.

Easy decision

For James and Margaret, moving to Greenspring was an easy decision to make. We had quite a few friends already living here, says Margaret. They love it here and we knew that we would too. The couple met Anna Greves, Greenspring s personal moving consultant. She introduced us to the Erickson Realty and Moving Services and met with us in our home, says Margaret. Previously, we had met with real estate agents who suggested updates to our house that Anna did not feel were necessary. Instead, Anna suggested the couple consider pulling up some of their existing carpet and refinishing the sought-after hardwood flooring underneath. Because we had spent the last 42 years in our house, we had accumulated a lot of furniture and other stuff, says Margaret. So we made the conscious choice to move out and then take care of getting the house ready to sell. A moving company recommended by Erickson Realty and Moving Services helped the Brookes pack and move their belongings to their new Greenspring home. Now less than a week into their new life at Greenspring, the couple plan to put their house on the market within the month. We are busy settling in and have even had our two grandchildren over for a visit, says Margaret. We are very pleased with our move and so happy with all the help we ve received.
