First impressions are a key factor in selling your house. Typically, potential buyers have already made up their mind ten seconds after they step in the front door. These easy upgrades will help your house to stand out.

The kitchen is still considered the heart of the home. Potential buyers make a beeline for this room when they first view a house for sale, so make sure your kitchen looks clean and reasonably updated. For a few hundred dollars, you can replace the kitchen faucet set, add new cabinet door handles, and update old lighting fixtures with brighter, more energy-efficient ones.

Next to the kitchen, bathrooms are often the most important rooms to update. They, too, can be improved without spending a lot of cash. Even simple things like a new toilet seat and vanity sink are pretty easy for homeowners to install, and they make a big difference in the look of the bath. If your tub and shower are dingy, consider re-grouting the tile and replacing any chipped tiles. Do you have carpet in your bathroom? If so, consider replacing it with a ceramic tile, which is more functional for prospective buyers.

New paint makes everything look clean and bright again. Paint provides dramatic results with little investment. Opt for a neutral color to enable people to picture your space as their space.

Outside space

Curb appeal is king! What buyers see when they first drive by your house is tremendously important. No matter how nice it is inside, they may never enter your house if the outside is shabby-looking. Refresh your landscape add new mulch and seasonal flowers. Purchase a new doormat to give your entry that new home feel. It is very important that prospective buyers can find your house easliy. Do your old house numbers need to be cleaned up, painted, or replaced? There are lots of styles and choices to do the trick.

Can you ever have enough closet space? If you have cramped storage areas, consider adding do-it-yourself wire and laminate closet systems to bedrooms, pantries, and entry closets. You can also get design details and parts for these systems at many large home improvement stores. In the end, your closets will be more functional while you re living in the house and will make your house look more customized to potential buyers when you re ready to sell. Buyers pay a premium for a home that is in top-notch, move-in condition, so once you decide to sell, make sure the house is ready to be sold.
