When people move to Tallgrass Creek, they can choose from among a variety of different apartment home styles. The Erickson Living community in Overland Park, Kans., has apartments in a range of sizes and layouts, so there s a home to suit the tastes and preferences of just about everyone. Tallgrass Creek Sales Director Jean Dennis says the Glenwood floor plan consistently ranks among the most popular apartment home styles. [This model] has a beautiful open kitchen connected to a den that can be used in a variety of ways, a large bedroom with nice walk-in closet space, and additional closet space in the living area, she says. The Glenwood has one and a half bathrooms, which Dennis says is convenient when residents host guests in their homes. What s more, the kitchens all feature upgraded granite countertops and matching tile backsplashes. Dennis also says the Glenwood makes a comfortable home for both single people and couples. In fact, the Glenwood apartments have been so popular there are only three of them left in the community.

Almost like a little house

Diana Ritter recently nabbed a coveted Glenwood apartment home. She moved to Tallgrass Creek from Lee Summit in January. Diana had been living in a large four-bedroom, three-bathroom house, which many people find to be more space than they need during retirement. Her Glenwood apartment home, Diana says, perfectly fits her lifestyle. It doesn t feel like an apartment; it s laid out almost like a little house, she says. It s a nice layout. She uses her second bedroom as a combination den and guest room. She has furnished her new apartment with some favorite pieces she and her late husband purchased when they were first married, making her feel right at home. I had a desk I wanted to bring along, but I didn t think there would be enough room, Diana says. But it fits in beautifully with my dining table as well as a buffet. It s a nice comfortable sitting area, and I look out on a lovely green lawn and garden. Diana enjoys many of her meals with her new friends and neighbors at Tallgrass Creek s full-service, on-site restaurant. But when she does want to eat at home, she has plenty of space to prepare meals. It s a sunny, bright, and practical kitchen with eating space, Diana says. This particular model I am in has a kitchen with the work area along one wall, which is so practical, and then has another wall free to accommodate a small round table.

Comfortable home, welcoming neighbors

When she moved to Tallgrass Creek, Diana knew she was getting a comfortable and stylish home. She was pleasantly surprised that everything else is available right outside her new front door. Tallgrass Creek community members enjoy a host of amenities from an on-site fitness and aquatics center to a well-appointed clubhouse to scenic walking trails. Plus, the community is home to about 300 active retirees, so finding people to enjoy leisure activities with is never a problem. Diana says she enjoys taking evening walks amid the trees and gardens on Tallgrass Creek s spacious grounds. As an avid reader, she s also been taking advantage of the community s library, which houses thousands of books from every genre. For residents who want to get involved, Tallgrass Creek has dozens of resident-run clubs and committees. Or, people who prefer a more low-key lifestyle can drop in on social events at their convenience. The weekend movies are so convenient, Diana says of one of the activities that s enabled her to become acquainted with her new neighbors. The people here have been so gracious.
