Sales associate ‘sold’ on Charlestown before she even started working there

Lori Gellenbeck knew the inside of Charlestown s apartment homes like the back of her hand before she ever started in the role of sales associate at the Catonsville, Md., Erickson Living community earlier this year. I was working with a local furniture rental company who furnished Charlestown s model apartment homes, says Gellenbeck. After graduating from North Carolina State University, she initially pursued a career in the hotel and hospitality industry. My job [with the rental company] was to come to the community, look at the apartments, and stage them with furniture and accessories. After a few visits, Gellenbeck quickly discovered why Charlestown earned third place in the Baltimore Business Journal s 2011 Best Places to Work Awards and hopped on the bandwagon. As a sales associate, Gellenbeck, along with the other members of Charlestown s sales team, works with individuals and couples interested in learning more about the Erickson Living lifestyle, as well as other aspects of the moving process, like selecting an apartment, selling a house, downsizing, finding a real estate agent, and hiring a moving company. The most important aspect of my job is to listen, says Gellenbeck. Change is difficult, even if it is good change. By listening to what people s fears and concerns and their hopes and dreams are, I can then help them design a timeline and lifestyle that suits their specific needs.
