Moving help when you need it

Realty program proves invaluable for Texas couple

Guy and Betty Garrett s plan to move to Highland Springs was a long time in the making. The Richardson couple joined the priority list when the Erickson Living community in North Dallas opened in 2006. They chose the apartment home they wanted a two-bedroom, two-bath Worthington floor plan. But still they held off. Our three children and their families live overseas, says Betty. We felt like we needed to keep our house so they would have a place to visit. It was their children s urging, however, that spurred the plan forward. Our kids told us we should move ahead with our plans, says Betty. So in January 2011, we called Christina [Christie, Highland Springs sales counselor] and told her we were ready to move.

Waiting and working

Unfortunately, the couple s preferred floor plan was sold out. Opting to wait until a Worthington became available, Guy and Betty started working with Highland Springs Personal Moving Consultant Gail Wrzesinski. Gail knew we were waiting for the right apartment. She suggested steps we could take to prepare for the move, says Betty. The couple s plans accelerated when a Worthington became available in June 2012. Gail connected us to a real estate agent, a home stager, a moving company, and estate sale planners, says Betty. Anytime we had a question or a need, she was right there to help.

Step-by-step guidance

Wrzesinski s assistance, along with a network of resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, eases the anxiety and burdens of moving. For prospective residents like Guy and Betty, who lived in their Richardson house for 30 years, it made the transition seem less daunting. The professionals that Gail recommended gave us step-by-step instructions to help us sell our house and move to Highland Springs, says Betty. We even received $2,000 toward our moving expenses through Erickson Living s Move On Us program. Their house sold eight weeks after it hit the market. Now settled at Highland Springs, the couple couldn t be more pleased with the outcome. This is the perfect apartment for us, says Betty.
