Elsie Pickett and her husband Jim have moved quite a few times. Last July, the Picketts moved to Tallgrass Creek, an Erickson Living community in Overland Park, Kans. Elsie says this move, unlike others in the past, was nearly stress-free. We just could not believe it. It was a godsend, Elsie says. This was the easiest and best move we ever made. One of the big differences this time around is that the Picketts were able to take advantage of Tallgrass Creek s Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a free program through which new community members can access a suite of services from real estate agent referrals and moving company recommendations to help with floor planning and interior decorating.

Coordinated effort

Sales Counselor Judy Baxter says when she first met with Jim and Elsie, one of their concerns was putting their house on the market with many other competitive properties listed in the same area. Baxter referred them to an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent, who has successfully helped many other residents sell houses. Elsie says the agent got the job done and fast. We had three showings and the house sold in two and a half weeks, Elsie says. When the Picketts moving day arrived, Elsie says the process continued to run smoothly. Judy had referred them to a trusted moving company that also coordinates packing and unpacking. That assistance enabled the Picketts to start living comfortably in their new home very quickly. They had two girls helping us, and they were just wonderful, Elsie says. I am the type of person who wants to hurry up and get everything done, and we were totally settled here fast. The Picketts chose a McKinley-style apartment home, which features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room and a patio with sliding glass doors. The unit has a small kitchen, but Elsie says they don t use that room often. Instead, they dine most evenings with friends at Tallgrass Creek s on-site restaurant. It s a real treat to be able to go down and have a nice meal and not have to do the dishes, Elsie says.
