Maryland man discovers having the right help speeds up moving

There are two types of people: those who procrastinate and those who don t. William Wehrenberg is the latter. Within roughly three months, he found the perfect apartment home, sold his house in Laurel, Md., and moved into Charlestown, Erickson Living s community in Catonsville, Md. I was reading about Charlestown in the Tribune, says William, a Bell Atlantic retiree. One day, I was telling one of my three sons about it, and he said, Why don t we go and look at it? We came out and toured the community, and I thought it was a great place. So William didn t waste any time. With the help of Personal Moving Consultant Vera Ballard, he contacted an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent and got to work. The real estate agent had me do some minor cosmetic things to the house before it went on the market, says William. One of them was removing all the wallpaper and giving the walls a fresh coat of paint. With the work behind him, William was ready to sell. But even he wasn t prepared for how quickly things happened. The house sold in three days! he says. We had one woman come through who loved the house and brought her husband back to see it, and they ended up buying it.

Like clockwork

Before he knew it, everything was falling into place, and he was preparing to move. Charlestown recommended the moving company I went with, and they took care of everything, says William. They spent one day packing up the house, and the next day they unpacked and put away everything at my new apartment. It was quick! Five months later, William can be found all settled into his new home and lifestyle. He says he s relieved and couldn t be happier with his decision. My sons have been encouraging me to sell the house for years and move to something with less maintenance, says William. Now I can just relax and not worry about hiring someone to clean the sidewalks off when it snows or cut and fertilize the grass in the summer. I don t have to worry about anything, and my kids don t have to worry about me.
