Because he d spent most of his life in Drexel Hill, moving from a five-bedroom house in the Poconos to Maris Grove, Erickson Living s community in Delaware County, Pa., was like coming home, says Mark Bianchi. Mark is out and about a lot now that he s near his children and his Drexel Hill friends. But he s also gained a campus full of caring neighbors and fellow pinochle players.

Back in the old neighborhood

It s like being back in the old neighborhood, Mark says. Everybody looks out for one another, and the people are so happy. Mark has a two-bedroom, Jackson-style corner apartment home. He initially wanted a patio, but when he saw the light streaming through the Jackson s many windows, he decided a patio wasn t necessary. The home s second full bath, however, was important; he wanted overnight guests to have their own bathroom. Mark s second bedroom doubles as an office. Do I need this much space? No, but I m happy with it, he says. His home boasts special upgrades he had installed through Maris Grove s on-campus custom services department. Chief among them are a side-by-side refrigerator, glass-top range, custom blinds, and a hand-held showerhead.

Spoiled silly

He rarely uses his custom kitchen, however. Maris Grove s excellent cuisine has spoiled him. Plus, he eats out a lot, so he s on the community s flexible 20-meals-a-month dining plan. He can use it for any meal at any campus restaurant or to treat friends, kids, or grandkids to brunch or dinner at Maris Grove. There s always something to do here, Mark says. He regularly attends the community s plays, lectures, and special performances. And he rides in comfort with its travel group on trips far and near or to an evening s entertainment in Center City.
