‘Just like coming home’

Texas woman finds perfect balance at Eagle’s Trace

Created date

Carolyn Rogas moved to Eagle s Trace in search of balance. I was ready to be out from under the responsibilities of home ownership, but I wasn t ready to give up my independence, says Carolyn. I wanted a home where I could come and go as I please, with the assurance that help is available if I need it. Carolyn found what she was looking for at the West Houston Erickson Living community, where residents maintain active, vibrant lifestyles. I lived in my home in Austin for 26 years, but my children and grandchildren live in Houston, says Carolyn, a retired librarian. I d driven by Eagle s Trace when I came to visit and thought I might like to live here.

Test run

To confirm her thoughts, Carolyn spent two nights in the community s guest suite in June 2012. She dined with residents in the Garden Room Restaurant, visited the on-site swimming pool and fitness center, and got a feel for life at Eagle s Trace. After that visit, I knew this was where I wanted to be, says Carolyn. I was also thrilled that my two cats could come with me. That was a big selling factor. But there was still the matter of selling her home and moving from Austin. To help Carolyn with the move, Eagle s Trace Sales Associate Dawn Dandy put her in touch with a real estate agent and a professional organizer in Austin. Erickson Realty and Moving Services connects prospective residents with a wide network of moving professionals, everyone from real estate agents to stagers to moving companies, says Dandy. Our goal is for every move to be as simple and stress-free as possible. Carolyn s four-bedroom, two-bath house was under contract two weeks after it hit the market. I didn t anticipate my house selling so quickly, says Carolyn. I thought I would have plenty of time to pack up and move. Barry Izsak, the professional organizer, was a lifesaver. Carolyn relied on Izsak s help even more when she fell and fractured her ankle in the midst of the move. Barry literally took over the rest of the move, says Carolyn. When I walked into my new apartment at Eagle s Trace, the pictures were on the wall and the dishes were put away. It was just like coming home.
