‘There’s never been a better time to move to Cedar Crest’

Variety of floor plans an attractive option for many

There s never been a better time to move to Cedar Crest, says Ruth Phillips, sales counselor for Cedar Crest, the Erickson Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J. The community has been a popular choice for retirees in the area, making apartment style choices limited for those looking to make the move. But according to Phillips, a variety of floor plans are now available, causing priority list members to jump at the chance to move now instead of waiting.

Five tips

Since time is of the essence, Phillips offers the following tips for getting the apartment home of your choice: 1. Join the priority list. The priority list is the first step in moving to Cedar Crest. It not only acts as a waiting list for the apartment home of your choice, but it also allows you to get to know Cedar Crest and your future neighbors. Priority list members get invited to exclusive community events like the Cedar Crest Campus Stroll fitness event on May 29. They can even try some of our clubs and activities before moving, like the Amblers and Scramblers hiking club, gardening club, or horseshoe and bocce courts. This time of year you ll find so many opportunities to join the community, you ll feel at home and make friends even before moving in. 2. Take advantage of this rare availability. If you re already on the priority list but don t think you re ready to move, think again. We have apartment styles available now that haven t been available for a while, and they won t last long. These include the one-bedroom, one-bath Brighton; one-bedroom, extra-large-bath with patio or balcony Dover; extra-large one-bedroom, one-bath Ellicott; and extra-large one-bedroom, one-bath with extra-large kitchen Freemont. You may be able to move into the perfect home now, but it might not be available in a few months. Our priority list has more than 600 people waiting for their apartment choice to become available. While you never lose your place in line, if someone before you turns down an apartment home, you have the chance to move in sooner than you might have expected. It might be months or years before that style or location is available again, so take advantage of the opportunity when it comes along. 3. Get complimentary moving assistance. Priority list members also receive free moving and real estate help from Margaret Semezko, our personal moving consultant. Once you decide to move and have chosen your apartment home, Semezko will visit you in your home with a miniature floor plan of your new apartment. She will help you choose which furniture to bring, downsize efficiently and effectively, and choose a moving company and real estate agent. Our recommended real estate agents are specialists in selling older homes and helping people move to Cedar Crest because we work with them all the time. Plus, we pay for up to $2,000 of your moving costs when you use one of our recommended real estate agents. 4.Custom design your home. Every apartment home gets refurbished before you move in, but you also have the opportunity to customize it with our custom interiors department, which offers interior design services. If you want hardwood floors, granite countertops, tile bathrooms, or built-in bookcases, we can make it happen without a hassle and before you move in. So you re not living with construction, just enjoying the end product. 5. Consider your budget and your lifestyle. With this variety of floor plans, you re more likely to find a home that fits both.
