I can t imagine an apartment home at Ashby Ponds that we d enjoy more, says community member Forrest Kelly, who moved to the Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va., with his wife Mary Lou last April. Not only is our new home spacious and comfortable, it has a lovely open floor plan that we really enjoy. The Kellys live in the popular one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath Newbury-style apartment. The home also boasts a large den that opens directly into the main living area. The Newbury is one of our most sought-after floor plans, says Ashby Ponds Director of Sales Holly Henderson. I am often told that the large rooms and open floor plan draw people to this particular style.

Decision time

Before moving to Ashby Ponds, Forrest and Mary Lou lived in a two-bedroom condominium in Thurmont, Md. We both worked in the school system, and when we retired we decided to downsize and move into a condo, says Forrest. We lived there for almost ten years before we decided that moving to Ashby Ponds was the right decision for us. One of our sons and his two young children live near Ashby Ponds, he adds. He encouraged us to check it out, and we are so glad that we did. We really like the setup here. Not only are the apartment homes spacious and lovely, but the staff and the people we ve met are very friendly. Forrest says they first considered a two-bedroom apartment but realized, in the ten years we lived in our condo, we never really used our second bedroom for much more than storage. It seemed like a waste of space. That s when we gave the Newbury a closer look. They especially like the den, where they have set up their computer. Plus, because it opens into the living area, we are able to spend time on the computer without feeling shut away from the action. In fact, the Kellys enjoy their new home so much that they ve opened their door to prospective Ashby Ponds residents in a series of recent home expo luncheons. It s our hope that the new people moving to Ashby Ponds will enjoy their home as much as we do, says Forrest.
