A new take on health care

Priority list members ‘Meet the Docs’ at Wind Crest

Created date

June 25th, 2013

Have you ever interviewed primary care physicians before choosing one? On June 6, Wind Crest priority list members had the opportunity to do just that. At Meet the Docs, they learned about Wind Crest s on-site medical center and participated in a panel discussion with the community s own full-time, board-certified physicians and specialists. And, they enjoyed a healthy breakfast from one of Erickson Living s top-rated dining programs.

Priority care

Joining the priority list at Wind Crest has many advantages. It secures your place in line for an apartment home at the Erickson Living community in Highlands Ranch, Colo. (an important benefit since the community is sold out). But joining the list has other benefits as well. One of the biggest advantages of being on the priority list is you can see our primary care physician and specialists before you move in, says Sales Director Jason Atwell. Priority list members who attended the Meet the Docs event learned more about how they can take advantage of the medical center right away. Our physicians are specially trained to treat the health needs of older adults, so many of our priority list members choose to switch as soon as they join, Atwell says. Specialists include cardiologists, podiatrists, and dermatologists, who have regular hours at Wind Crest. So those who use the medical center can easily coordinate visits with multiple doctors without having to coordinate transportation. Aside from specially trained physicians, the medical center offers a different overall experience from outside medical offices. Wind Crest s doctors practice exclusively at Wind Crest, and they reserve 30 minutes for every appointment. As a result, patients feel less rushed and more confident in their doctor. Residents of Wind Crest can also call for an appointment and be seen the same day.

Continuing care coming soon

Event attendees also learned more about Mill Vista Lodge, Wind Crest s new continuing care neighborhood slated to open this fall. Attendees saw the building s progress after the event. While Wind Crest currently offers continuing care to its own residents at Aspen House, located in the Aspen Terrace residence building, Mill Vista Lodge will expand continuing care from 9 apartments to 130 private residences across all levels of care assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, memory care, and long-term care. The new neighborhood will offer personalized care from on-site physicians and registered nurses. Additionally, it will provide outpatient rehabilitation. Licensed therapists will offer services in three rehabilitation disciplines physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Services will be available to Wind Crest residents and outside guests. This is an exciting milestone, says Atwell, and we look forward to offering the full continuum of care in the near future.

Experience Wind Crest

Atwell adds that the medical center isn t the only amenity priority list members can utilize before moving in. The Experience Wind Crest program is offered to new members of the priority list and allows them to attend happy hours, enjoy a meal at the Fireside Restaurant or Fly n B Caf , get a manicure at the spa, and attend special events. They receive a coupon booklet to use services and experience the community firsthand, Atwell says. It s a great way to get acclimated before moving day.
