Competitors turn up the heat

Next Super Chef to be crowned at Seabrook

Three teams will square off later this month in Seabrook s fourth annual Super Chef competition on Sept. 19. Each team is comprised of one chef and one resident from the Tinton Falls, N.J., community; the teams will vie for the title of Seabrook Super Chef in front of a live audience and panel of judges in Seabrook s 250-seat auditorium. Participants will receive a mystery ingredient, which they must use to create a delectable dish in just 35 minutes. Last year, Seabrook partnered with the New Jersey State Department of Agriculture to feature a mystery ingredient of Garden State produce. Last year s winning team, the Delectable Duo (Emily Pernice and chef Alex Rocha) wrapped perfectly cooked asparagus and squash in a delicate crepe. They paired the crepe with prosciutto-wrapped shrimp, all atop a creamy white sauce. Only time will tell what this year s mystery ingredient will be. This event draws a huge crowd, says Public Relations Manager Tony Ciavolella. It s one of our most popular events. It s fun and flavorful! Priority lists members may attend, but seating is limited.
