Milt and Rochelle Goldman haven t given a thought to home maintenance since March. Instead, they re enjoying meeting all their new neighbors at Fox Run, an Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich. I always say the best part is dinner because you meet so many people and it s really nice, Rochelle says. In March, Milt and Rochelle moved from a three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo in West Bloomfield, Mich., to a Hamilton-style apartment home at Fox Run. Our [apartment home] isn t as big as the condo was, but it has other amenities that far surpass what we had, Rochelle says. The one-bedroom, two-bathroom home is large enough for Rochelle s grand piano, and with a maintenance staff on-site, the Goldmans no longer need to worry about home repairs.

Helping hands

When the Goldmans decided moving to Fox Run was the right decision for their retirement lifestyle, they had plenty of help to make it a smooth transition. As prospective Fox Run residents, they were able to take advantage of Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a free program offering a suite of services from referrals for real estate professionals and moving companies to help with furniture arrangement and interior decorating. Fox Run Personal Moving Consultant Mary Wolfe says she guided the Goldmans step by step through the process. Mary definitely helped us a lot, Rochelle says. Wolfe referred the Goldmans to an experienced real estate agent who helped sell their condo in only three days on the market. She also created a floor plan of the Goldmans new home so they could decide which pieces of furniture they would keep. Then, she helped them organize an estate sale for the items they no longer wanted. She even helped manage small details like shredding old paperwork so the Goldmans could move into their new home with less clutter. Thanks to the help of a moving company Wolfe recommended, Rochelle says, moving day went very well. They handled everything with care, right down to arranging her collectibles in a display cabinet.
