Most Oak Crest priority list members who have the pleasure of working with Oak Crest Personal Moving Consultant Ashley Ruth will tell you she s become just like family. But for Carol Ann Ruth, that statement is more than just a term of endearment, it is actually true. You see, Ashley Ruth is Carol Ann s daughter-in-law. Alone in a big house after her husband passed away in February, Carol Ann decided to go ahead with their original plans to move to Oak Crest and turned to Ruth for help. We had planned on moving in the future and joined the priority list a few years back. I told Ashley I was finally ready to move, says Carol Ann. I was thrilled when she called to tell me the apartment I wanted was available because I thought I was going to have to wait a lot longer.

The professional touch

Without hesitation, Carol Ann met with Ruth to begin planning her move. First came the task of selling her house, then sorting through more than 20 years of belongings. Although Carol Ann had the emotional support of her friends and family, Ruth s professional moving expertise would prove invaluable. Even though we are family, we made a point to keep the entire process on a professional level, says Carol Ann. She put me in touch with a real estate agent Oak Crest recommended and in less than a week I had a contract on the house for 96% of the asking price. Next, they worked on a plan to determine what Carol Ann would bring and what she wouldn t. I had a lot of stuff to get rid of, says Carol Ann. With Ashley s help, everything I brought with me fits beautifully. Just a few short months after her move, Carol Ann is settled into her new apartment and ready to start the next chapter in her life. Being here has made a big difference in my healing, says Carol Ann. Just being able to make new friends has been wonderful. Plus, I ve been able to spend a lot more quality time with my mom who also lives at Oak Crest. It s about as close to perfect for me as I think it could be.
