Tallgrass Creekopens its first phase of continuing care this month. The new neighborhood will offer 28 beautifully designed assisted living apartments and a spacious commons area. Phase two memory care, post-acute rehabilitation, and nursing care is scheduled to open in May 2014. One of the neighborhood s many highlights will be the varied dining venues and delicious, chef-prepared menu choices, allowing residents and guests to maintain a personalized meal schedule. Devin Allred, Blue Sage Point s new associate executive director and administrator, says the warm design of the dining area is reminiscent of a family-style great room. "The dining areas are like the rest of the continuing care neighborhood," says Allred. "There is such a comfortable, welcoming feel. Residents will enjoy three meals a day, starting with a casual breakfast and more formal lunch and dinner. Food, beverages, and snacks will be available on a 24-hour basis."

Collaborative approach

The continuing care neighborhood will have its own kitchen and dining director who work in tandem with Tallgrass Creek s executive chef and staff. Residents will be part of menu choice decisions. "It will be a team approach resulting in an all-around great food and dining experience," says Allred. Allred, who joined Erickson Living in August, has 18 years of experience in senior care and will oversee the entire continuing care neighborhood. Along with wife Brook and sons Preston and Parker, Allred moved to Overland Park from Utah. "When I first visited the physical building, I was so impressed with the design and layout. It just seems to embrace and welcome you," says Allred. "I'm excited to be part of such a caring and beautifully designed community. Good things will happen here."
