With all apartment homes occupied and a growing priority list of more than 1,000 people, Ashby Ponds, Erickson Living's community in Ashburn, Va., recently announced the addition of its seventh residence building Willow Crossing scheduled to open in the summer. "We are thrilled to be able to meet the strong demand for the Ashby Ponds lifestyle with the 101 new apartment homes that will be available at Willow Crossing," says Executive Director David Gallagher. In turn, our community members are eager to meet their new neighbors and welcome them to the Ashby Ponds family. This is an exciting time for Ashby Ponds, he adds. We recently celebrated our five year anniversary and look forward to the 2014 openings of our continuing care and Willow Crossing.

A place to call home

Willow Crossing is the first of its kind for Erickson Living, says Holly Henderson, Ashby Ponds director of sales. This new addition will offer both apartment homes and community building spaces. Community building space refers to areas dedicated to community living, like the theater, classrooms, and sitting areas. The 101 new apartment homes will be a mix of Ashby Ponds most popular floor plans as well as eight never-before-seen floor plans inspired by community-member feedback. All of the homes will feature airy layouts and beautiful finishes, including granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

New additions

In addition to the new apartment homes, Willow Crossing boasts an abundance of new clubhouse-style amenities, including a new community restaurant offering both cooked-to-order selections prepared from a fixed seasonal menu and a variety of chef specials. This will allow for a more personalized dining experience and the ability to enjoy both lighter fare and distinctive entrees. The new restaurant will also offer a first for Ashby Ponds patio dining as well as a bar/lounge area and new private dining rooms. Willow Crossing will also offer new flexible spaces for group activities, including a small theater, perfect for catching a movie or performance by the community chorus, the Songbirds, or the Ashby Ponds Players drama club. A fitness room will also be available to complement the existing fitness center in the Cardinal Clubhouse. "My wife Dottie and I are excited for the additional services that Willow Crossing will provide", says community member John Kraft.

Advice from the experts

"Not since Red Robin View in 2011 has Ashby Ponds announced the construction of a new residence building. Red Robin View sold out mere weeks after construction was announced," says Henderson. "We recently announced Willow Crossing to our exclusive priority list and we ve received a great response. Willow Crossing is now 87% sold out." "The best part about living at Ashby Ponds is that I have total control over my lifestyle," says Joan Foote. "I love the independence my lifestyle provides. I am able to come and go as I please, dine when I choose, and join friends if and when I feel like it. Yet at the same time, if I have a problem, there's always somebody available to help me, including security, medical, IT, and general services. I never had these advantages when I had my own house. Living at Ashby Ponds is the best of both worlds. To me, says Joan, the opening of Willow Crossing means we are moving forward in a positive direction. It will provide us with new neighbors and many more amenities to enjoy." Joan's neighbor Al Beyer agrees. "My wife Marilynn and I moved to Ashby Ponds in September 2009, and it was one of the smartest things we ve ever done," he says. "Our life here is comfortable, fulfilling, and active. We lack for nothing and are secure knowing that friends, neighbors, a terrific staff, and medical care are all immediately available. I see the opening of Willow Crossing as the first step in growing the Ashby Ponds community. This will not only continue to solidify its financial stability and viability, it will also offer more folks the opportunity to join a wonderful community and lifestyle."
