Elaine Frazis finds just what she was looking for at Fox Run

You can hear the enthusiasm and joy in Elaine Frazis's voice when she talks about Fox Run. To her delight, she now calls the Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich., home. A few years ago, Elaine was living in a condo in West Bloomfield. She says the large unit was more space than she needed. She had some friends who had moved to Fox Run, so she decided to check it out. "When I came and saw all of the things going on here, I thought, '"This is terrific,'" Elaine says.

Penthouse living

In June 2012, Elaine moved to Fox Run. She opted for a spacious one-bedroom apartment home on the top floor, which she affectionately calls her penthouse. "It's very large, and I have this large window. I see the sunrise, and I just love it," Elaine says. "And it s near where all the people go by, and I can see what is going on." Elaine says her roomy apartment home features a big eat-in kitchen and ample closet space. She had the walls painted to her specifications before she moved in. She brought some of her existing furniture from her condo to Fox Run but says she wanted a new sofa as the centerpiece of her new living room. She was able to easily dispose of her old sofa by donating it to Fox Run's Treasure Chest, an on-site resale shop that raises money for the community's Benevolent Care Fund. Fox Run is a not-for-profit community dedicated to supporting residents who experience an unforeseen change in their financial situation for reasons beyond their control. Fox Run's Home for Life Commitment provides several options for residents to protect their future. The Residence and Care Agreement has the full details.

Fun ways to be fit

"Living at Fox Run makes it easy to stay active," Elaine says. The on-site fitness and aquatics center is just a short indoor walk from her own front door. Elaine frequently takes advantage of group exercise classes. She particularly enjoys the water fitness classes in the heated indoor swimming pool. She says one of the classes went a long way in alleviating some back pain she had been experiencing. One of Elaine's favorite ways to get some exercise and have fun is dancing. The vibrant retiree finds plenty of opportunities to take a turn on the dance floor at Fox Run. The community hosts a number of celebrations throughout the year with live music. "Whenever we have parties, there is always dancing," Elaine says.

A close-knit community

Fox Run is home to a number of Jewish residents, including an active Shalom Group that organizes educational events and holiday celebrations. Elaine is active in the Shalom Group, and has become close friends with several of the members. "That group is absolutely wonderful," Elaine says. "We go to synagogue together every Friday night; we have a bus [provided by the synagogue] that takes us every week." Fox Run has a number of on-site amenities like a medical center with dedicated physicians and visiting specialists, a salon and spa, a bank, and a convenience store. In fact, Elaine says that living at Fox Run is so convenient that she no longer needs a car, so she gave hers to her grandson. Periodically, when she needs to run to the grocery store, one of her daughters drives her. But she enjoys most of her meals with friends at one of Fox Run's full-service restaurants. "I really and truly love this place," Elaine says.
