Life’s little conveniences

Ann’s Choice resident appreciates community’s approach to stress-free living

Pat Raup estimates she’s used nearly every service available at Choice, Erickson Living’s community in Bucks County, Pa.

In terms of conveniences, security, and amenities, when she moved from the Toms River, N.J., area, “I got more than I expected.” She marvels at the extent to which residents’ needs are met.

While every apartment home boasts a washer and dryer, commercial-size machines are also available so residents needn’t trundle oversize items to and from a Laundromat.

When Pat washed her king-size bedspread, she brought along a fistful of quarters. Then she discovered the machines were free; one of life’s little irritations eliminated.

Full continuum of care

A far more valuable convenience is that Ann’s Choice provides a full continuum of care right on campus—both a full-service medical center, whose physicians and medical professionals focus solely on Ann’s Choice residents, and a rehabilitation and long-term care neighborhood, Rose Garden.

After Pat’s knee replacement surgery last September, she did all of her physical therapy at Ann’s Choice. She completed inpatient therapy at Rose Garden, progressed to the community’s outpatient therapy department, then transitioned to an individualized program at the campus fitness center.

Pat’s doctor is an Ann’s Choice physician. Because she’s prone to bronchitis, it’s a blessing that her doctor is close by. When necessary, she’s even gotten same-day appointments.

Pat fills prescriptions at the campus pharmacy, which offers to-your-door delivery for a nominal charge and also stocks grocery items, gifts, and cards.

When she used the campus transportation department’s taxi service for trips to her surgeon’s office off campus, her Erickson Advantage plan covered the cost.  “It’s wonderful to know, no matter what, you’ll get to where you’re going,” she says.

Erickson Advantage, insured through United Healthcare Insurance Company and its affiliated companies, is a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract. It is available only to members of Erickson Living communities.

More marvelous advantages

Except to walk her dog or to relax on her patio, Pat doesn’t think about the weather.

Boots and umbrellas can stay in closets all year long because residents can get to any of the community’s 3 clubhouses and 15 residence buildings without going outside.

Pat’s Friday evening piano-playing gig in Liberty Commons Clubhouse is a stroll away from her beautiful two-bedroom, Franklin-style apartment home.

Neighbors await just beyond her door, and she can work on her watercolor and oil paintings in her home or a campus art studio.

If an appliance acts up, “I call general services,” she says. “I don’t have to bother my children. And there’s no charge.” (The monthly service package at Ann’s Choice incudes all maintenance, in addition to heating and air-conditioning, a flexible meal plan, and all utilities except the telephone.)

The service she’s come to value most at Ann’s Choice is its security department, a team of first responders who are on the job 24/7.

“Somebody is awake all night here making sure everything is okay,” she says. “I’m so pleased to be at Ann’s Choice.”
