If you want to know all about Creek, chat with Sales Counselor and Personal Moving Consultant Judy Baxter. Baxter has been with the community’s sales team since 2007, when Tallgrass Creek was still under construction.

“We worked out of a trailer on the construction site,” remembers Baxter. “It was hot in the summer and cold in the winter.”

Through the years, Baxter has given solid moving and downsizing recommendations to almost every Tallgrass Creek resident. We recently asked her for a few tips that make for an easier and more comfortable relocation.

Q: What should I look for in a real estate agent?

A: Since most people’s homes are among their largest assets, selecting a real estate agent is important. I suggest interviewing at least three agents prior to listing your home.

You want an agent who understands your desires financially, and you need to understand their selling philosophy. For example, some real estate agents may want to lower your home’s price after a month and some don’t.

Also, ask lots of questions, such as how do they plan to promote your home, how many open houses will they host, can they help “stage” your home so it is more attractive—things like that.

Q: Is a move that involves downsizing different from those that don’t?

A: Absolutely. I think downsizing can be a bit more emotional and discomfiting; people need quality guidance throughout the process. It’s one reason we asked local real estate agents Ron and Joan Yaffe to join the Erickson Realty and Moving Services team. We felt they exhibited the compassion and professionalism a downsizing move requires.

Also, Senior Move Manager Linda Scardino is a valuable resource to our team. She provides a unique balance of compassion and focus and has helped many of our residents through the downsizing process.

Q: What do Erickson Realty and Moving Services-recommended movers provide that is different?

A: Most of us have to start from scratch when researching a quality moving company, but at Tallgrass Creek we’ve done that for you. After talking with several moving companies, we selected C & C Relocation as part of our team because their professionalism, pricing, and overall attitude impressed us. Now we have a very good history with them and know how careful and caring they are.

Q:What is the first thing I should do when I move to Tallgrass Creek?

A: Get involved! There are more than 60 unique clubs, organizations, and committees, from great workout facilities and classes to fun happy hours and excursions all over the community to academic discussions, spiritual opportunities, entertainment, wine tastings, and so much more. It’s all here.
