In high demand

Ashby Ponds growth mirrors Loudoun County boom

This summer, Ashby Ponds will celebrate the opening of Willow Crossing, the community’s newest residence building. Within weeks of the new construction announcement, Willow Crossing almost completely sold out.

“The Erickson Living lifestyle at Ashby Ponds is in high demand,” says Holly Henderson, Ashby Ponds’ sales director. “This demand also goes hand in hand with the continuing growth of Loudoun County, where Ashby Ponds is located.”

In September 2013, the Forbes article “America’s Fastest-Growing Counties: The ‘Burbs’ Are Back” listed Loudoun County as the second-fastest-growing county in the nation, with 7.8% population growth since 2010. Much of this growth is due to an 83% increase in the number of jobs within the last decade, primarily in the areas of technology and telecommunications.

Location, location, location

Many Ashby Ponds community members enjoy the conveniences of their suburban location while remaining in close proximity to Washington, D.C.

“We schedule many exciting trips to destinations within both Loudoun County and Washington, D.C.,” says Special Events Coordinator Elisabeth Longworth. “Recent trips include the Sugarloaf Arts and Crafts Festival at Dulles Expo Center and a performance of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.”

Others enjoy close proximity to their children and grandchildren who live in the thriving Washington, D.C., metro area.

“In the four years I have lived at Ashby Ponds, my grandchildren have visited me many times,” says Alice Buck. “Three of the four grandchildren who grew up next door to us now live in the area. One grandson works in nearby Leesburg, Va., and frequently joins me for dinner on his way home from work.”

Opening doors

The addition of Willow Crossing will open the Ashby Ponds doors to 150 new community members, add a third restaurant to the list of the community’s culinary offerings, and provide sought-after community space for more clubs and activities.

“This is an exciting time for Ashby Ponds,” says community member Mary Terry. “With growth comes new neighbors, and from these new neighbors we develop new friends.”
