After seeing friends and family enjoy Charlestown’slifestyle over the years, it was no surprise to Harry and Wally (short for Walburga) Geelhaar that they would love it too when they moved to the Catonsville, Md., Erickson Living community last April.

“My parents lived here at Charlestown, and we would visit them once a week,” says Harry, a retired psychologist from Catonsville.

It was that positive firsthand experience that led Harry and Wally to join Charlestown’s priority list well in advance, enabling them to reserve the apartment style they wanted when they were ready to sell their condominium in Elkridge, Md.

“When we contacted the sales office, they showed us two or three different two-bedroom apartments before we selected this one,” says Harry, referring to their two-bedroom, two-bath home with a screened porch. “Once we saw it, we knew it was what we wanted. It’s spacious. We use our second bedroom as a computer room.”

Thanks to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a complimentary program of trusted vendors that guide prospective Erickson Living residents through the selling and moving process, Harry and Wally were also able to enjoy a speedy move.

With the help of an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent, the Geelhaars were able to easily sell their condominium in only five days and transition into their new apartment with ease.

“We were surprised at how quickly everything went,” says Harry. “Our real estate agent was very good and so was the moving company Charlestown recommended. Everyone in the sales office at Charlestown was helpful in taking us through the selling and moving process. We couldn’t be more pleased.”

Now that they’ve had time to settle in, Harry has begun using the on-site fitness center and is also a member of Charlestown’s chess club, while Wally enjoys singing with the Harmonizers choral group.

“There are plenty of activities to participate in and opportunities to enjoy yourself. I’m glad we moved,” says Harry.
