Spring, a typically busy time at Ponds, an Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va., is busier than usual this year. Last month, the community’s new continuing care neighborhood opened. And in a few months, Willow Crossing, the newest residence building will welcome its first residents.

“I’ve been at Ashby Ponds from the very beginning,” says Sales Counselor Dana Bradshaw. “And I can tell you, this time in our history is like no other. Each day, I meet with people eager to learn how they can be a part of the most popular and fastest growing community in Loudoun County.”

In an effort to help all of those considering a move to Ashby Ponds, Bradshaw addresses this month’s most frequently asked questions.

Q: “What’s the secret? What do I need to do to ensure that, when I am ready to move, the Ashby Ponds home of my choice will be available to me?”

A: This is the question I receive more than any other. Luckily, the answer is simple: join the priority list. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150 per-person nonrefundable application fee. The deposit reserves your priority date. Once your preferred apartment home becomes available, you will be given right of first refusal based on your joining date.

It’s important to note that there is no penalty should your preferred apartment home become available before you are ready to move. It is simply offered to the next member on the list, and your priority list status remains the same.

While on the priority list, you will enjoy opportunities to learn more about our community, meet current residents, attend special priority list functions, and tour apartment homes.

Recently, the biggest benefit of joining the Ashby Ponds priority list is first notice regarding the opening of new residence buildings. Weeks before construction plans are announced to the public, our priority list members are given the opportunity to reserve a brand new home in the new building.

Last year, this benefit proved to be tremendous. By the time Willow Crossing was announced to the public, 98% of these new homes were reserved by members of our priority list.

Q:“I understand that a continuing care neighborhood recently opened. What benefits can I expect from this neighborhood should I move to Ashby Ponds?”

A:  The continuing care neighborhood provides 132 residences offering assisted living, memory care, post-acute rehabilitation, and nursing care services.

In addition to providing the most comprehensive medical care available, it provides peace of mind for members of our community. Most will never need these services, but for those who do, there is comfort in knowing that they will be cared for, on campus, surrounded by friends and neighbors. In fact, Ashby Ponds is the first community in Loudoun County to offer all of these services at one site.

Ashby Ponds and 16 other Erickson Living communities across the U.S. provide continuing care neighborhoods. With a proven track record, including a hospital readmission rate that’s half the national average, these communities set Erickson Living apart as an industry leader.

Q: “What are the most popular apartment home designs at Ashby Ponds?”

A:  The larger the better is the message I hear, loud and clear, from prospective residents. And we’ve taken that demand to heart. With each new residence building, we plan more and more larger-sized one- and two-bedroom apartment homes.

Our newest residence building, Willow Crossing, offers eight never-before-seen, large floor plans. Meeting the demand for a fireplace, we are offering the Windsor floor plan, a favorite at other Erickson Living communities.

Three of the apartment floor plans, the Riesling, the Stratford, and the Walton, boast storage rooms in addition to large walk-in closets. These designs meet the market demand for more storage space for clothes, suitcases, holiday decorations, and even golf clubs.

It’s important to note that each of these new, large floor plans sold out exclusively to members of the Ashby Ponds priority list.
