“When I made the decision to move to Ashby Ponds, I was excited,” says Rune Foster.  “However, in my excitement, I may have missed some important details if it weren’t for Personal Moving Consultant Elizabeth McCumiskey. She knew exactly what needed to be done and made sure it happened. More than that, she somehow knew how I would feel when all was said and done. She took care of my immediate and my future needs as a new member of the Ashby Ponds community.”

Prior to her move to Ashby Ponds, Rune spent 37 of her 52 years of marriage in her Reston, Va., house. When her husband died, she knew it was time to forgo the responsibilities of a big house. Her daughter, a veterinarian who serves members of the Ashby Ponds community, urged her to visit the campus.

Getting right to it

“I knew right away that Ashby Ponds was where I wanted to live,” says Rune. “Once I made the decision to move, I was put in touch with Elizabeth. She came out to my house, and we immediately began planning what pieces of furniture I would take with me to my new home. She also gave me a list of recommended real estate agents to help me sell my house.”

Rune selected one of the real estate agents, and in less than four days, she had a contract in hand.

“I then began working with a moving company and an estate sale company, both of whom Elizabeth suggested,” says Rune. “Through every step in the process, Elizabeth was there to make sure everything ran smoothly. She is very aware that moving is a big life event. She reminded me to take some time for myself. It was not until I was in my new home that I realized the importance of that advice. I believe it is one of the reasons why I enjoyed a smooth transition.

“Ashby Ponds is a wonderful place to call home,” Rune adds. “I am so thankful for all the help I received during my move. Elizabeth was incredibly helpful and intuitive. Her favorite phrase was, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll get this done,’ and she was right. It really felt like I had a friend by my side.”
