Oak Crest’s priority list a risk-free way to give yourself peace of mind

Many retirees who once worried about maintaining their homes and the financial burdens that came with them now have a lot less to worry about. These smart planners have already reserved a future apartment home at Oak Crest, the Erickson Living community in Parkville, Md. Although 99% of the apartments at Oak Crest are currently spoken for, priority list members guarantee themselves the apartment home of their choice when it becomes available. 

Priority list members are afforded many perks not given to the general public. Once people join the list, they are official VIPs at Oak Crest, with a fast-track link to all the latest information at the community. 

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about the priority list, answered by Sales Counselor JoAnn Huebler.

Q: What is the priority list?

A: The priority list consists of people who plan on moving to Oak Crest. A fully refundable $1,000 deposit per household and a $150-per-person, nonrefundable application fee are all it takes to join and secure your place in line. Then you choose the home styles you are most interested in. When one of those becomes available, you are given the right of first refusal according to your priority list date.

Q: How is my priority list date determined?

A: Your position on the list is based upon the date you submit your $1,000 deposit and application fee. So the sooner you join, the better your choices. Every day you wait to call, another person gets ahead of you in line.

Q: Do I have to be ready to move in right away?

A: No. Joining the priority list simply gives you options. Once you are a member, you will be contacted periodically when an apartment home you are interested in becomes available. If you are not ready to move, just let us know and we’ll move to the next person. Unlike other communities, at Oak Crest you never lose your spot in line.

Q: What happens to my deposit when I move to Oak Crest?

A: When a floor plan you are interested in becomes available and you choose to reserve it, the $1,000 deposit is then applied to the cost of your new apartment home. Your priority list deposit and date are also transferable to any of the other Erickson Living communities across the nation.

Q: Are there any other benefits of joining?

A: As a priority list member, you will be invited to a number of exclusive community events, including luncheons, open houses, and other special activities. It’s a great opportunity to meet other people who are interested in moving to Oak Crest and those who already live here.  

Priority list members also have access to our personal moving consultant, Ashley Ruth, to help them with every step of their move to Oak Crest. She assists future residents with everything from downsizing to choosing a real estate agent and a moving company from Oak Crest’s list of trusted vendors. This service, called Erickson Realty and Moving Services, is complimentary to all priority list members, and we encourage you to take advantage of it.

Q: Since Oak Crest is nearly sold out, what would you say to the person who thinks there’s no point in even trying to get in now? 

A: I don’t see the priority list as an insurance policy but rather as an assurance policy. To ever have the opportunity to move to Oak Crest, you must first join the priority list. With this, you get first right of refusal, meaning if any apartment home becomes available, priority list members are the first to be notified. There are a number of people on the list, but everyone’s tastes and needs are different. Not everyone is on the same schedule. But every day you delay, someone else joins the priority list ahead of you and is able to make the choice to move to Oak Crest sooner.
