Sheila Willing brings the unique combination of expertise and battle-tested determination to her role as sales counselor at EricksonLiving’s community in Springfield, Va.

Willing joined the Greenspring community in 1998 just two weeks before the first residents moved in. For ten years before coming to Greenspring, she served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. She logged 58 parachute jumps and served in the First Gulf War.

Today, she brings her dedication to helping others to the more than 1,000 people she meets with each year, all of whom are eager to make Greenspring their home.

“It’s a great joy to see how excited people are to move to our community,” says Willing. “My job is to make sure that everyone moving to Greenspring has the time to ask questions and truly experience what it means to be a part of this thriving community.”

In an effort to help all of those considering a move to Greenspring, Willing addresses this month’s most frequently asked questions.

Q: What is the most important thing I can do to ensure a future at Greenspring?

A: This is the question I receive more than any other. Luckily, the answer is simple. Join the priority list! All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150 per-person nonrefundable application fee.  The deposit reserves your priority date. Once your preferred apartment home becomes available you will be given right of first refusal based on your joining date.

It’s important to note that there is no penalty should your preferred apartment home become available before you are ready to move. It’s simply offered to the next member on the list, and your priority list status remains the same.

While on the priority list, you will enjoy opportunities to learn more about our community, meet current residents, attend special priority list functions, and tour apartment homes.

Recently, members of our priority list enjoyed a special lunch with Michael Ritt, our executive chef, who prepared the meal celebrity-chef style in front of the guests. This fun afternoon enabled future community members to taste the food served daily at Greenspring and witness all the work that goes into their meals.

Last but not least, priority list members have complete access to our realty and moving services.

Q: Once I am ready to move to Greenspring, what services are available to help me make my move?

A: Greenspring Personal Moving Consultant Anna Greves provides personalized realty and moving services to future community members.

Greves aims to make the move to Greenspring as stress-free and seamless as possible. To that end, she meets with people in their homes, discusses expectations, and develops a comprehensive selling and moving plan based on their individual needs. She puts people in touch with Greenspring-recommended real estate agents, moving and packing companies, estate sale companies, downsizing experts, and anyone else whose services will help in the sale of their house.

Her attention to detail and dedication to her clients reaps huge rewards. Last year, she helped sell more than $37 million in real estate for our newest Greenspring community members. The houses stayed on the market an average of 17 days, a month less than the average 45 days in Northern Virginia.

Q: What are the most popular apartment home designs at Greenspring?

A:  Greenspring’s most popular floor plan is also Erickson Living’s most popular model. It’s the large, one-bedroom Brighton. It boasts an extra-wide picture window, a full-sized walk-in closet, an extra-large living area, and a spacious kitchen filled with state-of-the-art modern appliances.

For those who want a larger apartment, the Hastings is one of our popular two-bedroom floor plans. Each bedroom is located on opposite sides of the living area for privacy. The expanded living area is so spacious it can accommodate a formal dining table. Like the Brighton, the Hastings features a large, walk-in closet in the master bedroom as well as an eat-in kitchen.
