Later this month, Ashby Ponds will complete construction on Willow Crossing, the community’s seventh residence building. The first residents will move in next month.

“We are thrilled to, once again, meet the demand for the Erickson Living lifestyle in Loudoun County,” says Executive Director David Gallagher. “With the opening of Willow Crossing, we will welcome more than 150 new community members to Ashby Ponds.”

Willow Crossing is the second new residence building to open at Ashby Ponds in the last two years. In 2012, the community opened the doors to Red Robin View, which, like Willow Crossing, sold out in a matter of weeks.

“Demand for the Ashby Ponds lifestyle is at an all-time high,” says Gallagher. “We currently have more than 1,000 people on our priority list, and that number is growing every day. In fact, Willow Crossing sold out almost exclusively to members of our priority list, before construction was announced to the public.”

The record-breaking growth of Ashby Ponds mirrors that of Loudoun County, Va., where the community is located. According to the Census Population Estimates data, the county grew by almost 4% of the population during the one-year period from July 1, 2012, to the same date in 2013.

“Ashby Ponds provides the best in retirement living in the most sought-after county in the country,” says Director of Sales Holly Henderson. “Our goal is to continue to meet the demand as long as we are able.”

New kind of neighborhood

Willow Crossing is a new breed of Erickson Living residence buildings, offering both apartment homes and flexible community spaces. These new community spaces will be used for group activities and include a small theater. A fitness room will also be available to complement the existing fitness center in the Cardinal Clubhouse.

A new community restaurant is also on the menu at Willow Crossing and will offer both cooked-to-order selections prepared from a fixed seasonal menu and a variety of chef specials.

“Our new restaurant will allow for a more personalized dining experience and the ability to enjoy both lighter fare and distinctive menu items,” says Executive Chef Robert Reffell. “It will also offer another first for Ashby Ponds—patio dining as well as a bar/lounge area and new private dining rooms.”

Even the apartment homes at Willow Crossing offer something new—eight never-before-seen floor plans inspired by community member feedback, and all of which feature airy layouts and beautiful finishes, including granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances.

“We’ve listened carefully to our community members when they tell us what they like best about their current apartment homes,” says Henderson. “As a result, Willow Crossing will feature numerous apartment designs with large bay windows, sunrooms, and porches.”

Additionally, many of the new floor plans boast utility rooms and large walk-in closets, meeting the market demand for more storage space for clothes, suitcases, holiday decorations, and even golf clubs.

Welcome wagon

For their part, current community members look forward to meeting their new neighbors.

John Kraft and his wife Dottie were among Ashby Ponds’ pioneer residents, moving to the community in 2008 and initiating numerous clubs and activities.

“Dottie and I are very excited about the new residents and will do everything we can to make their transition smooth,” says John.

Neighbor Mary Terry also looks forward to meeting the new arrivals.

“This is an exciting time for Ashby Ponds,” says Mary. “With growth comes new neighbors, and from these new neighbors we develop new friends.”

With demand for Ashby Ponds growing every day, new neighbors will undoubtedly be joining the vibrant community for years to come.

“This is an exciting time,” says Gallagher. “The upcoming opening of Willow Crossing is our next step in sharing the Erickson Living lifestyle with the people of Loudoun County.”
