Choice , the Erickson Living community in Bucks County, Pa., is 98% sold out, but folks who join its priority list can shorten the wait for their dream home.

The priority list, comprised of people who plan to move to an Erickson Living community, allows prospective residents to reserve their place in line for an available apartment home. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person, nonrefundable application fee.

When prospective residents submit their deposit, that date is noted as their priority list date. Once a floor plan in their preferred category becomes available, the sales team gives them first right of refusal based on their joining date.

Even if their timetable is five years out, they begin receiving invitations to exclusive priority list events and have access to extensive and complimentary assistance from Colleen Rosica, personal moving consultant at Ann’s Choice.

Problems solved

Bernice and Milton Salamon joined the list in 2010. Three years later, they decided to move. That process could have been complicated and stressful because they moved from an apartment in Willow Grove and also needed to sell their large home of 30-plus years in Margate, N.J.

They contacted Rosica, who gave them undivided attention. She also gave them her book of preferred vendors such as antiques appraisers, painters, real estate agents, and movers.

With her help, the Salamons completed their move just four months after Rosica made the first of her three home visits to measure their furniture and advise them about what pieces to bring to their new apartment home.

She also created a furniture arrangement that fit perfectly in their beautiful new two-bedroom home, one of 23 different two-bedroom styles at Ann’s Choice.

Bernice’s plants thrive on their apartment home’s deep windowsills.

Rosica’s recommendation of preferred vendor Moving Solutions solved another problem. Bernice, a horticultural therapist, still works, so she had limited time for moving preparations.

The moving company packed, unpacked, and put away all the couple’s belongings. They even made the beds.

“I don’t know what I’d have done without them,” says Bernice. It was extremely helpful in [reducing] wear and tear on the two of us.”

Picture perfect

Afterward, Rosica, a certified home stager, helped Bernice decide where to hang their paintings.

The Salamons chose Ann’s Choice for its vibrant lifestyle and 150-plus clubs and activities. “But most of all, we enjoy the friendliness of the people,” says Bernice.

They’ve joined the community’s Jewish Residents Council and its support group for people with hearing problems.

Milt, who garnered awards in Margate for his tomato-growing skills, is now applying them in his garden space at Ann’s Choice. A World War II veteran, he also belongs to the veterans club.

Bernice takes springtime walks at Warminster Community Park next door.
