June is a beautiful time to schedule an appointment with Sales Counselor Kimberly Janson for a tour of Grove, EricksonLiving’s retirement community in the scenic hills of Delaware County, Pa.

Because Maris Grove is 98% sold out, Janson says that prospective residents can’t start too early to plan their move, even if it’s a year or more.

The first step is to join Maris Grove’s priority list.

Joining the list allows prospective residents to reserve their place in line for the apartment home of their choice. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person, nonrefundable application fee.

When people submit their deposit, that date is noted as their priority list date. Once a floor plan that meets their preferences becomes available, the sales team gives first right of refusal to priority list members based on their joining date.

Janson provides members with specific information about all of Maris Grove’s 40-plus floor plans because the more styles members find appealing, the sooner they likely can move.

Maris Grove’s Web page at ericksonliving.com features virtual tours of several different styles.

Even more benefits

As soon as people join the list, they receive invitations to luncheons, apartment home tours, and other exclusive priority list events.

A downsizing event for priority list members this April provided on-site opportunities to shred unneeded paperwork and donate unwanted items that day.

It also featured seminars such as “50 things nearly every homeowner can throw away…today,” presented by Michael Ivankovich, a leading area expert on downsizing, appraisal, and auctions.

Complimentary assistance from Suzanne McAllister, Maris Grove’s personal moving consultant, is an especially valuable benefit of joining the list.

She maintains a network of preferred vendor referrals such as senior move managers, repair people, and real estate agents.

And because everyone’s needs are different, McAllister personalizes her services.

The wrap-around assistance provided to Maris Grove’s priority list members makes moving to the maintenance-free community as easy as living there.

The benefits of a home visit

As soon as you join Maris Grove’s priority list, Sales Counselor Kimberly Janson recommends you schedule a home visit with Personal Moving Consultant Suzanne McAllister. Here’s why:

1. McAllister will prepare and bring to the visit a comparative market analysis of what houses like yours are priced.

2. When McAllister visits your home, she’ll help you decide what apartment home styles might work, make floor plans showing your furniture in each of those styles, and draw up a plan of action for downsizing.

3. McAllister will also share photos from Internet listings of homes that sold in your area to help you decide whether updating your house would fetch a better price.

4. She’ll recommend preferred real estate agents  who are compatible with your personality and who specialize in selling in your area.

5. McAllister aims to make the transition to Maris Grove as easy as possible, so she’ll visit as often as needed and will stay in contact throughout the moving process.
