Just one month after welcoming the first residents to Willow Crossing, the newest residence building at Ponds, the Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va., announces construction of an eighth residence building, Hickory Glen, and the addition of the campus’s second clubhouse.

The lightening-fast growth of Ashby Ponds mirrors that of Loudoun County, where the community is located. According to U.S. Census figures released this past March, Loudoun County continues to be ranked as the fastest-growing county in Virginia, growing at a rate of 239 new residents a week between July 2012 and July 2013.

In the three years since the 2010 Census, Loudoun County continues to hold the top spot as the nation’s fastest growing large county, growing 12% since 2010.

“As quickly as the county grows, so does the demand for the Erickson Living lifestyle,” says Ashby Ponds Executive Director David Gallagher. “We are pleased to once again respond to this demand with 68 new apartment homes at Hickory Glen and the new Great Oak Clubhouse featuring a performing arts theater, an art studio and gallery, a café, a banquet room, a reading room, and classrooms.”

Building on tradition

Each of the 68 new Hickory Glen apartment homes features amenities already popular at Ashby Ponds, including airy layouts and beautiful finishes; modernized kitchens with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances; full-sized, side-by-side washers and dryers; walk-in closets; and custom flooring and light fixtures. Convenient under-building parking is also available.

“We listened carefully to what our current residents and priority list members enjoy most about apartment homes already on campus,” says Director of Sales Holly Henderson. “As a result, we are happy to announce that Hickory Glen will offer our most popular floor plans, including the Walton and the Pendleton.”

The deluxe, two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Walton boasts a large family room perfect for relaxing and entertaining, as well as a utility room designed for maximum storage.  In addition, the Walton features a sought-after bay window overlooking Ashby Ponds’ immaculately kept grounds.

The popular Pendleton also features two large bedrooms with two bathrooms and an airy, private porch off the living room.

Music to their ears

Following the early 2015 opening of Hickory Glen, the Great Oak Clubhouse will open, offering exciting new amenities for the Ashby Ponds community. One of the most highly anticipated new additions at the Great Oak Clubhouse is the performing arts center, setting the stage for popular plays, concerts, movies, and lectures.

“The new performing arts center will make it much easier to host many of the activities we currently schedule in the living room area of the Cardinal Clubhouse,” says community member Carl Hemmer. “The new space will also offer a more reliable sound system that will reduce the labor of set up for concerts, plays, and lectures—greatly improving the quality of sound for everyone.”

Carl’s neighbor Kay O’Brien agrees.

“The performing arts center will provide us a proper place to show our Saturday night movies and present our dramatic productions,” says Kay. “I am also really looking forward to the new food choices at the cafe.”

Going, going, gone

As with all residences in Loudoun County, those at Hickory Glen are going fast. Within two weeks of announcing Hickory Glen to the Ashby Ponds priority list, more than 40% of the new homes were reserved, and to date, that number has risen sharply to almost 90%.

“When we introduced Hickory Glen, we knew the apartment homes would not be available for long,” says Henderson. “With priority list membership now totaling more than 1,100 people, I encourage anyone considering a future at Ashby Ponds to schedule a visit and see firsthand the exciting changes taking place at our community each day.”
