When’s the best time to sell your house? When you’re ready, say the experts

It’s generally accepted that the best time to get a good deal on a new car is at the end of the year. But some industry analysts say you may actually get a better deal in summer as new models hit the lots in August and last year’s inventory goes on sale. 

Like choosing the right time to buy a car, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to deciding on the right time to buy or sell a house. While spring and summer are traditionally regarded as prime real estate seasons, experts say the rules have changed. Today’s real estate market is no longer tied to just one season. The fall and winter months also have their own unique advantages when it comes to buying and selling.  

“We are finding the traditional seasonal patterns in real estate are not filled with peaks and valleys as they were years ago,” says Rob Skudrna, a professional real estate agent with Long & Foster Reisterstown.
