Before Jack and Barbara Robbins moved from Northeast Philadelphia to Choice four years ago, they received a helpful maroon binder of information about the Erickson Living retirement community in Bucks County, Pa.

But a comprehensive, 38-page brochure produced last year is even better, says Jack. “I wish it had been available when we investigated Ann’s Choice. For anyone not a resident, it’s a must. It answers a lot of questions early on.”

Available at no charge to anyone who requests it, the guide provides details on topics that range from floor plans of various apartment styles and specific financial information and worksheets, to Ann’s Choice’s outstanding on-site amenities and 150-some activities.

Color photos showing actual residents involved in activities at Ann’s Choice convey the spirit that exists at the community.

Producing the brochure entailed a yearlong effort by Erickson Living’s corporate sales and marketing department and sales directors, sales counselors, and personal moving consultants from each of its communities.

Potential residents also gave input.

“We didn’t hold anything back,” says Copy Director Karen Walls. “We wanted the guide to answer the questions of potential residents and their adult children. We wanted them to be as well informed as possible so the decision they make is truly the right one for them.”

Each Erickson Living community has its own customized brochure that is reader-friendly so people can skim it for highlights or peruse it cover to cover.

Each brochure even features barcodes (called QR codes) that readers can scan to hear testimonials from Erickson Living residents. All it takes is a QR code reader app on your smartphone or tablet computer.

Ambassadorial seals of approval

As Ann’s Choice resident ambassadors, Jack and Barbara welcome and answer questions from guests at the community’s marketing luncheons.

Jack says people always want to know what’s included in the monthly service package. That information begins on page 41, and special inserts provide additional details.

Barbara adds that visitors tell her they don’t know how to get rid of their “stuff.” So she’s pleased the brochure includes information about the community’s special complimentary program, Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

She also applauds the personalized inserts, such as a page of mini-bios about the medical providers at the campus’s full-service medical center.

Fellow ambassador Selma Rovner considers information about the medical center especially helpful because a lot of prospective residents don’t know about it. They also don’t know that a number of visiting specialists hold monthly office hours.

Before she moved from Jenkintown, Selma, who is pictured in one of the brochure’s photos, got her questions answered during a campus tour.

The ambassadors consider the brochure a wonderful introduction to Ann’s Choice and a great way to prepare for a campus visit. Apparently, so do people who call the community’s sales office for information. Responding to requests, Sales Associate Susan Breish mailed out more than 1,900 brochures last year.
