Wendy Paige, the new director of sales for at PGA National, Erickson Living’s retirement community in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., brings 25 years of sales and marketing expertise to her position.

And she shares Devonshire’s commitment to a feeling of family. In fact, that’s part of what attracted her to the job.

Her most recent position was as sales and marketing director at Prosperity Oaks, a senior living community also in Palm Beach Gardens.

“When I learned about the opening at Devonshire, I researched Erickson Living,” she says. “Everything I read told me its culture is of a smaller, more caring environment.”

When she arrived this spring, everyone welcomed her with open arms. Now her staff accords new residents the same warm welcome.

“People don’t move in here as strangers,” Paige says.

Her department provides the community’s directors with weekly updates about soon-to-be Devonshire residents so that even before people move in, staff members feel as if they know them.

“Our team really likes that personal part of their responsibilities,” says Paige. “When people close on their new apartment home, I tell them, ‘Welcome to the family. We can’t wait for you to get here.’” And she means it.

Paige says that Devonshire’s innate friendliness fosters real relationships among community members and staff alike.

At the sales helm

Paige’s responsibilities include leading the effort in implementing and managing the sales and marketing programs that introduce prospective residents to Devonshire’s  distinctive retirement lifestyle.

“I also see this as a new starting point with a new owner,” she says. “Since the public has found out about Erickson Living’s ownership and stability, sales activity has significantly increased. Anyone interested in living here should visit before the apartment homes are sold out.”

Marketing materials soon will include photos that feature Devonshire residents, and special open house events this month will showcase new apartment finishes available in the maintenance-free homes here.

“A Taste of Devonshire,” held in September, gave guests the opportunity to see Devonshire’s beautiful grounds, tour apartment homes, and enjoy delectable cuisine prepared by Devonshire’s outstanding culinary department. The community even has its own pastry chef.

After-hours activities

Although her office phone rings constantly, Paige likes that her days are full. “I love the people here, and I love what I do,” she says.

After hours, she unwinds by floating in her swimming pool and romping with the family dog. She plays “lots of golf” with her husband, a PGA professional, and she gardens on weekends.

Sunday is a family day. Paige’s daughter and twin grandchildren live in Denver, but her dad lives nearby and always comes for Sunday dinner.
