Creek residents and staff members showed their support for the Kansas City Royals at a pep rally complete with burgers and hot dogs.

Special guest Janie Quisenberry Stone, wife of beloved Royals relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry, who died from a brain tumor in 1998, regaled residents with stories about her husband’s baseball career, including the team’s glory days in 1985, the year the Royals won the World Series.

Joining the rally was Alysia Quisenberry Metcalf, a painting instructor at Tallgrass Creek and daughter of Dan Quisenberry and Janie Quisenberry Stone.

Residents further showed their support by donating food and related household items to Harvesters, a regional food bank serving a multi-county area in Missouri and Kansas.

The Royals made it to the World Series but lost to the San Francisco Giants in a knuckle-biting, final seventh game.
