Have you been thinking about exploring retirement living options, but you’re unsure where to start? Many local retirees say that one of the easiest ways to learn more about Fox Run, the Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich., is to join the priority list. Members have opportunities to visit Fox Run, interact with current residents, and tour the campus.

The Tribune recently asked Fox Run Assistant Executive Director Fred Moschetta to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the priority list. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’ve heard about the priority list, but I’m not sure what it is. Can you tell me about it?”

Moschetta: The priority list is a preferred membership to secure a position on our waitlist for an apartment home. By securing a position in line, members will be notified when their desired apartment styles become available.

We encourage prospective residents to join the priority list, which requires a simple application, a refundable deposit of $1,000, and a one-time, nonrefundable processing fee of $150 per person. Priority list members reserve a place in line for the apartment home of their choice. The priority list is a great opportunity to secure a future home at Fox Run.

“What are the benefits of joining the priority list?”

Moschetta: Any updates to our community are first communicated to priority list members before going to the public. This was beneficial when Fox Run recently announced the construction of our new residence building, Edgewater. Priority list members had the opportunity to reserve an apartment in Edgewater before we went public with the announcement. We also have numerous special events at Fox Run just for priority list members.

“What kinds of events will I be invited to if I join the priority list?”

Moschetta: You will receive invitations to fun events and gatherings, as well as to community expos, where priority list members can meet everyone who currently lives at Fox Run and learn about all of the various clubs, groups, and activities we have here.

“How will being a member of the priority list help me figure out if I want to move to Fox Run?”

Moschetta: Priority list members are invited on campus several times a year. As a priority list member, you’ll have more opportunities to learn about what you would enjoy most about living at Fox Run.

“What is Erickson Realty and Moving Services, and how can priority list members take advantage of it?”

Moschetta: Erickson Realty and Moving Services is a complimentary service Fox Run provides to priority list members. If you take advantage of this service, our personal moving consultant, Mary Wolfe, can visit you in your current home and provide you with an evaluation of selling your house or condo in today’s market.

Our personal moving consultant has a vast list of trusted references for moving services, including real estate agents, downsizers, estate sale managers, antique appraisers, and professional movers to help make your move to Fox Run much easier.

“I’m not ready to move yet. Should I still join the priority list?”

Moschetta: Yes! Actually, that is the best reason to join the priority list because it puts you in charge of managing when you want to move.

“What would I miss out on if I move to Fox Run without having joined the priority list?”

Moschetta: Currently, Fox Run is sold out and we are only working with priority list members to secure their reservations. By not joining the priority list, you would risk not being above to move to Fox Run when you want to.

”I want to join the priority list. What should I do next?”

Moschetta: See the phone number in the callout box in this Q&A? Just give us a call to request a priority list application. You can either bring the completed application to Fox Run or mail it back.
