Howdy Highland Springs celebrates 100th episode

In-house television program produced entirely by residents

When Howdy Highland Springs launched on May 10, 2013, only a handful of residents were around to witness the television program’s humble beginnings.

“There were about 12 residents, led by Norma Hill, who were with Howdy Highland Springs in the beginning,” says Bob O’Steen, current producer of the in-house television program at the North Dallas Erickson Living community. “We were a motley crew at best.”

With little experience and great enthusiasm, that band of 12 residents set out to create a television program that has grown exponentially over the past year.

The show’s success is due, in large part, to the ever-increasing number of people who volunteer behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

“We’re learning as we go,” says Bob, who retired from a career in schoolbook publishing. “No one has any professional experience producing a television show, but we make improvements and have fun along the way. We also have great support from
