Last November, Jan Shenefelt moved from a condo in Northville, Mich., to Fox Run. She had some friends who were already residents at the Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich., and they periodically invited her to dinner at the on-site restaurants. When her preferred apartment home became available, Jan decided the time was right for her to make the move.

“I wanted to be near the pool to do water aerobics every day,” Jan says. “I thought, [This apartment] has everything I want, so why wait?’”

Team of experts

Jan’s move to Fox Run was as easy as her decision to move to the community. As a prospective Fox Run resident, Jan had access to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a special program that offers complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs, including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selection of a real estate professional. Jan worked directly with Fox Run Personal Moving Consultant Mary Wolfe.

Wolfe referred Jan to a real estate agent who has helped other Fox Run residents sell their houses and condos. Having a knowledgeable agent paid off.

“My experience was very good,” Jan says. “We had three offers on the first day.”

Wolfe also connected Jan with a professional moving company that has helped many residents with their moves. Having a reliable and experienced moving company to handle her belongings took much of the pressure off of moving day. Through Erickson Living’s Move On Us program, Jan received a $2,000 credit toward her moving expenses, making the process convenient and affordable. Jan says the movers even helped to clean her old condo and dispose of some items she decided not to take with her.

“To have somebody come in and get rid of all of that stuff was very nice,” she says.

At Fox Run, Jan selected a Manchester-style apartment home. The large unit features two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Jan frequently hosts friends and family as overnight guests, and she says her roomy apartment home has plenty of space for everybody.
