Among Fox Run’s most beloved residents are those with four legs and fur. In addition to more than 1,000 retirees, the Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich., is also home to many friendly and adorable dogs.

Almost 50 of the resident pooches and their owners gathered last fall for Fox Run’s 6th Annual Strut Your Mutt Dog Show. Pastoral Ministries Coordinator James Flowers emceed the event, which featured residents Sam Ray and Noni St. Amand as judges. Resident Marilyn Schueneman gave a pet blessing.

Each proud dog owner in attendance had the opportunity to strut around a circle and show off their pup’s special skills and talents. Resident Marge Ceh and her Chihuahua Josie took home the “most energetic” award. The pair walks four times a day around Fox Run’s 108-acre campus.

Marge and Josie have been together for just a few months, but they are already quite fond of one another. Josie was living at a rescue facility in North Carolina, where she was discovered by some of Marge’s friends. They thought Marge would love the dog, and so they drove to Michigan and delivered Josie to her “forever home” at Fox Run.
