As a young bride shortly after the Korean War, Sharon Boyce accompanied her husband Jack to Buckinghamshire, England, where he was stationed with the Air Force.

The young couple lived in a typical English home with a landlord and landlady. That experience ignited the Boyces’ lifelong love of overseas travel. They pursued it throughout his career with DuPont and on into retirement when they moved to Maris Grove.

Now, like her neighbors at Erickson Living’s retirement community in Delaware County, Pa., Sharon can explore destinations near and far with the community’s travel group. It offers day and weekend excursions, cruises, and European trips.

Right now, Sharon makes her own arrangements and travels with family or close friends, just as she and her late husband had done. They’d rent a villa or apartment in Provence with another couple, for example, and stay for a week. Then they’d spend another week in Provence but at a different accommodation.

Aside from leisure travel, the couple lived abroad, including Sao Paulo and Sydney, where Jack was posted with DuPont. His last transfer, to Wilmington, Del., brought the Boyces to Kennett Square. They moved from there to Maris Grove.
