Winter is one of the busiest times of the year for Ashby Ponds Sales Counselor Dana Bradshaw.

“In the last month, I’ve met with dozens of people whose New Year’s resolutions include either joining the priority list or moving to Ashby Ponds in 2016,” she says. “I’m here to help them make these resolutions realities.”

Last year witnessed tremendous growth at Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va. In addition to the opening of its on-site continuing care community, two new residence buildings, Hickory Glen and Magnolia Place, and the Great Oak Clubhouse opened.

Because no new construction occurred in 2015, meeting with Bradshaw now is the best way to plan for a future of unbeatable amenities and services, including a state-of-the-art fitness center and chef-created, healthy meals.

“The biggest question people have when they come to see me is, ‘Where do I start?’” says Bradshaw. “I smile and say. ‘By being here, you already have!’

“I meet with a wide range of people, from those early in the exploration process, to those looking at options for their parents, to those who know with certainty that Ashby Ponds is where they wish to live. Yet, no matter their differences, the following are three of the most asked questions I’ve addressed over the last few weeks.”

Q: What’s the secret? What do I need to do to ensure that, when I am ready to move, the Ashby Ponds home of my choice will be available to me?

A: This is the question I receive more than any other. Luckily, the answer is simple: Join the priority list. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150 per-person nonrefundable application fee. The deposit reserves your priority date. Once your preferred apartment home becomes available, you will be given first right of refusal based on your joining date.

It’s important to note that there is no penalty should your preferred apartment home become available before you are ready to move. It is simply offered to the next member on the list, and your priority list status remains the same.

While on the priority list, you will have opportunities to learn more about our community, meet current residents, attend special priority list functions, and tour apartment homes.

One of the biggest benefits of joining the Ashby Ponds priority list is first notice regarding the opening of new residence buildings. Weeks before construction plans are announced to the public, our priority list members are given the opportunity to reserve a home in the new building.

Q: Are there any apartment homes currently available at Ashby Ponds?

A: Despite the fact that Ashby Ponds enjoys one of the highest occupancy rates in the country for a continuing care retirement community, there are currently a handful of our most popular apartment homes available, including the best-selling two-bedroom, two-bath-with-porch Pendleton model, and the sought-after one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath-with-den Newbury model.

However, because supply varies on a daily basis, I encourage anyone wishing to move to Ashby Ponds in the short term to schedule a visit and explore their options.

I also encourage those already on the priority list to reevaluate their options on a regular basis. Waiting for that one, exact apartment home may take years. During that wait time, it’s possible for needs and desires to change. That’s why it’s so important to keep in touch and to keep an eye on what’s currently available.

All Ashby Ponds apartment homes, regardless of size, boast access to the same amenities and high standards, including recessed lighting in the living room, subway tile backsplashes in the kitchen, handtile work in the bathroom, and crown molding in the master bedroom and living room.

Q: What resources are available to me to help sell my home and prepare for a move to Ashby Ponds?

A: Two words: Elizabeth McCumiskey.

Elizabeth is Ashby Ponds’ personal moving consultant. She has helped hundreds of current residents sell their home and make a stress-free move.

Last year, Elizabeth and her team of real estate agents helped our newest Ashby Ponds residents sell over $48 million in real estate.

Elizabeth visits future residents in their current home. She helps them plan for their move and provides a personally recommended list of moving and packing companies as well as resources for downsizing and estate sales.

She is thoroughly professional, an expert in her field, and attuned to the specific challenges of her clients. And as all those who know Elizabeth can attest, her dedication, compassion, and commitment to her clients continue long after the sold sign appears on their lawns.

If you are interested in meeting with Elizabeth personally, just ask. I am happy to set up a meeting.
