Elizabeth Steve purchased her second-floor condo in 1981 when a job opportunity brought her to Houston, Tex.

“It was my home for 34 years, but the stairs to the second floor were getting trickier,” she says. “My friends were urging me to move.”

With no family in the Houston area, the thought of finding a new home, packing her things, and coordinating a move seemed overwhelming.

“I didn’t know where to start,” says Elizabeth, a retired secretary.

Affordable retirement living

Years ago, Elizabeth visited Eagle’s Trace with a friend. She loved the lifestyle at the West Houston community but feared it was outside her price range.

Elizabeth gave Eagle’s Trace a second look when her cousin Diane came for a visit in May 2015.

“Diane and her husband David toured Eagle’s Trace with me,” says Elizabeth. “After looking at the particulars, Diane told me she thought I could afford the move.”

David and Diane returned home to Columbus, Ohio, but Elizabeth was in good hands at Eagle’s Trace. The West Houston community offers moving assistance to prospective residents through Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

Moving help available

Haven Benoit, personal moving consultant at Eagle’s Trace, provides complimentary coordination of all real estate and moving needs, including downsizing, packing, home staging, and referrals to real estate professionals.

“I can’t say enough about Haven and the people she recommends,” says Elizabeth. “They have such a good system. Everyone has an area of expertise and knows what it takes to do the job well.”

Elizabeth reserved her one-bedroom, one-bath Brighton-style apartment in mid-May. Two months later, on July 13, 2015, she moved to Eagle’s Trace using an Erickson Living-preferred moving company. Four days after she moved, real estate agent Lisa Hudgens listed Elizabeth’s condo. It was under contract three days later and closed by the end of the month.

“The whole process was a bit of a whirlwind,” says Elizabeth. “But Haven had an answer to all my questions. She had a plan, and every step in the plan led me one step closer to the move.”

Now that she’s settled in her new apartment, Elizabeth is glad she doesn’t have to worry with second-story living anymore.

“Everything is better at Eagle’s Trace,” she says.
