Whenever you move to a new home, figuring out how to arrange your existing furniture in your new space can be a little tricky. When Irene Mizerowski and her husband Len moved to Fox Run from a condo in Livonia, Mich., that problem was solved for them.

As prospective Fox Run residents, Irene and Len had access to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a special program through which new community members can access a suite of services—from real estate referrals and moving company recommendations to help with floor planning and interior decorating. The Mizerowskis worked directly with Mary Wolfe, Fox Run’s personal moving consultant at that time. Wolfe’s role has since been filled by Kristine Kluge, who provides the same services.

Plan of action

“Mary came over to the house, and she sat down with us and measured every piece of furniture I pointed out that I wanted,” Irene says. “She made a floor plan for me of the apartment so I could see what I could take. It worked out very well; I was able to take almost everything I wanted.”

The Mizerowskis selected a Gilbert-style apartment home, which has one bedroom and a den. Irene says their moving day went off without a hitch, thanks to the professional moving company recommendation they received through Erickson Realty and Moving Services. Prior to moving day, the movers came to the couple’s condo and carefully packed all of their belongings; a few days later, they swiftly unpacked everything at Fox Run.

“They were very efficient. Having drawn up the floor plan, the movers brought it all in, and everything fit right where Mary said it would,” Irene says. “The movers came at 8 a.m., and by 3 in the afternoon, they had put everything away—it was home, and by 4 p.m., we were ready to go to dinner.”

Irene and Len have now lived at Fox Run a little over a year, and they are enjoying their worry-free retirement lifestyle. Irene says it has been fun getting to know their neighbors through the many clubs and activities, as well as over dinners at Fox Run’s on-site restaurants.

“We keep bringing friends over and telling them all of the good things they have here,” Irene says. “Our family is happy we are here and that we are being taken care of.”
