The inside scoop on Ashby Ponds

A one-on-one with Director of Sales Holly Henderson

Spring is in the air at Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va. With the snow and sleet of the winter long forgotten, the community celebrates with a renewed sense of energy, excitement, and unprecedented growth.

“Spring at Ashby Ponds—it doesn’t get better than that,” says community member Al Beyer. “Our beautiful campus offers many opportunities to enjoy blooming flowers, green grass, and balmy temperatures. Walking, biking, or simply sitting on one of the many benches and soaking up some sun erases all memories of a long and snowy winter.”

Spring also marks the busiest time for Director of Sales Holly Henderson and her devoted sales team.

“There’s something about spring,” says Holly. “Each day, we receive numerous phone calls from people eager to leave high heating bills and heavy snow shoveling behind. And with the real estate market hitting its peak during the spring and summer months, many people are eager to make this the year they move to Ashby Ponds.”

In fact, last spring, two members of Holly’s family, her husband’s parents Don and Joan, moved to Ashby Ponds.

“They couldn’t be happier,” says Henderson. “Helping your own family members move provides a unique insight into all aspects of the process, from choosing the right apartment home to downsizing and packing.”

Based on both her professional and personal knowledge, she is eager to share her insider information with future Ashby Ponds community members at a time when things are growing so quickly.

“I am asked hundreds of great questions every day,” she says. “These are some I hear most often.”

Q: There has been so much growth at Ashby Ponds recently, but no new buildings are opening in 2016. Why is this?

A: The last two years have been a busy time at Ashby Ponds. We introduced 252 new apartment homes with the addition of three residence buildings: Willow Crossing, Hickory Glen, and Magnolia Place. We also opened both a state-of-the-art clubhouse named the Great Oak and an on-site continuing care neighborhood.

As a result, we are now taking some time to slow down, pause, and settle into our most recent growth.

I believe this is important to mention because, over the last few weeks, I’ve met with people eager to move but who are waiting for the next new addition. However, at this time we want to take a breather to welcome our newest community members and to continue to resell our existing homes in a timely manner.

This hiatus on new construction will also provide us valuable time to go back to the market and ensure that we continue to build exactly what our market desires. We will definitely continue to add to our community, but the soonest we will offer a new residence building will be 2017.

But that should not deter anyone interested in moving to Ashby Ponds at this time. We still have a handful of highly sought-after apartment homes available for a 2016 move.

Q: What are some of the most popular apartment homes currently available at Ashby Ponds?

A: At Ashby Ponds, we’ve always made it a top priority to build the apartment homes our priority list members want. We continually survey both our current residents and our priority list members to ensure they are pleased with the homes we offer. Because of that commitment, the apartment homes currently available are all top sellers.

In the past few months, the deluxe two-bedroom, two-bath with sunroom Stratford; the large two-bedroom, two-bath with porch Pendleton; and the extra-large, two-bedroom, two-bath Radcliffe have been in high demand. And I’m pleased to say that we have a few of each still available. However, based on their popularity, they will not be around for long.

I would be remiss not to note that each Ashby Ponds apartment home comes with full access to healthy living options, including a state-of-the-art fitness center with pool, a healthy dining menu, and numerous activities that promote an active lifestyle, like bocce, biking, corn hole, karate, and tennis clubs.

Q: I would like to consider a move to Ashby Ponds in the future, but I am not ready to move at this time. Is it too early to join the priority list?

A: Definitely not. Due to the demand for the Ashby Ponds lifestyle, joining the priority list is the only guaranteed way to ensure a future at the community.

Priority list members receive first notice on new construction, and this benefit cannot be overstated. Our three most recent residence buildings, Willow Crossing, Hickory Glen, and Magnolia Place, sold out almost exclusively to priority list members within weeks of being announced.

In addition to receiving first notice of new construction, priority list members receive invitations to a variety of special events. These events provide a wonderful opportunity to meet future neighbors in a fun, social environment. Most recently, our priority list members enjoyed a special performance by the Beau Soir Ensemble—a flute, viola, and harp trio that played at the Kennedy Center.

Whether you hope to move in 1 year or 20 years, priority list membership ensures that an Ashby Ponds home will be available when you are ready to move. In fact, our priority list includes many children of our current residents. They’ve witnessed the Erickson Living lifestyle firsthand and wish to make it a part of their future.
