Thanks to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, Lorraine Pribish moved to a first-floor apartment home at Seabrook, an Erickson Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J.

Lorraine Pribish got a surprise one day that would help influence her decision about where to live next. Her neighbor and close friend Anita Nixson told her she and her husband were moving to Seabrook, the Erickson Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J.

Lorraine herself had been considering a move to Seabrook from the active-55 community where she had lived for the past ten years. In fact, she joined Seabrook’s priority list in 2006.

Priority list members are prospective residents who have expressed an interest in moving to an Erickson Living community and put down a fully refundable $1,000 deposit to reserve their place in line for the apartment home of their choice.

But a lot has changed since 2006. Lorraine’s daughter retired, and she and her husband decided to travel. “I have no other family here,” Lorraine says. Once she learned Anita and Bill would be moving to Seabrook, “I thought this was the best place for me.”

Customized moving plan

What’s more, Erickson Living offers Erickson Realty and Moving Services to all priority list members. The community’s personal moving consultant provides complimentary coordination of all realty and moving needs, including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selection of a real estate professional.

The personal moving consultant meets with prospective residents in their home, armed with a magnetic floor plan of their new apartment. She tours the home and sees which existing furniture pieces they want to bring with them to their new home. Then she measures them out and places the to-scale pieces on the magnetic floor plan.

“Having Laurie [Williamson, personal moving consultant at Seabrook] available made my move less stressful,” Lorraine says.

Williamson recommended a moving company, furniture placement, and donation sites like Habitat for Humanity. And since Lorraine used an Erickson Living-recommended real estate agent, who was also her friend, she received a $2,000 reimbursement for moving expenses.

Now, Lorraine and Anita are still neighbors. In fact, they live just a few doors from each other.

“I really love it here,” she says. “I don’t have any outside yard work to do anymore. I don’t have to cook anymore. I eat my main evening meal at one of the restaurants. It’s easy living.”
