Norine Wingate knew the Dallas housing market was strong, but she didn’t realize just how active it was until she listed her own home.

“I had 25 showings the first day it was on the market,” says Norine. “By that evening, there were 12 offers, all over my asking price.”

Even in a robust market, Norine says the professional guidance she received from her real estate agent was invaluable.

“She helped me identify which offers were the strongest and worked best for me,” says Norine. “I hadn’t bought or sold a home in 19 years, so it was great to have that support behind me.”

Customized moving plan

As a new resident moving to Highland Springs, the Erickson Living community in North Dallas, Norine availed herself of the resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

Cindy Gay, personal moving consultant at Highland Springs, offers complimentary coordination of moving services, including a home visit to assess individual needs and referrals to preferred vendors—real estate agents, senior move managers, and moving companies.

When Norine reserved a two-bedroom, two-bath Jackson-style apartment at Highland Springs, Gay visited Norine in her home to create a customized moving plan.

“Cindy helped identify which furniture pieces I would bring to Highland Springs and put together a potential layout for those pieces in the apartment,” says Norine. “She also gave me the name of a proven real estate agent and senior move manager.”

Norine’s four-bedroom, three-bath home was built in 1967. The home’s proximity to many of the city’s main corridors was a key factor in its appeal.

“I was actually at Highland Springs playing mah-jongg in my friend Judy O’Connor’s apartment on the day my home hit the market,” says Norine. “My phone kept ringing with notifications that potential buyers wanted to see the house. It interrupted our game. The other players still tease me about that.”

Norine sold her home in mid-January and quickly settled in to her new apartment at Highland Springs, thanks to the senior move company Gay recommended.

“They had all the pictures hung in my apartment by the end of move-in day,” says Norine.
