An Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent gave Susan Lemon good advice about how to showcase her Walled Lake, Mich., condo—and the property sold in five days.

Until February, Susan Lemon was living in a condo in Walled Lake, Mich. Although things like mowing the grass were handled by the association, there was still plenty of maintenance that fell on Susan.

“Things like ceiling light fixtures and plumbing would go wrong, and I had to rely on my brother-in-law or son-in-law to give me a hand,” she says. “And the weeding and stuff like that was getting difficult.”

Susan decided to move to Fox Run, where residents enjoy maintenance-free living. The process of moving to the community was a smooth one because Susan had access to Erickson Realty and Moving Services, a special program through which people moving to an Erickson Living community can access a suite of services—from real estate referrals and moving company recommendations to help with floor planning and interior decorating.

Susan worked with Fox Run Personal Moving Consultant Kristine Kluge, who was able to help her decide which pieces of furniture and household items she should keep and which she would no longer need. Kluge even helped Susan design a floor plan and figure out the best place to put each piece of furniture in her one-bedroom, Fairmont-style apartment home.

“My apartment has the kitchen offset, so the living room is a pretty good size, and it worked out really well,” Susan says.

Selling her condo was an easy—and serendipitous—process, Susan says. Kluge connected Susan with Michelle Michael, an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent who has helped many Fox Run residents sell their properties. As it turned out, Michael is Susan’s second cousin!

“I had met her before but didn’t know her well,” Susan says. “That was quite delightful, and she was very helpful.”

Good selling tip

Susan says Michael gave her good advice about how to best showcase her condo to attract buyers. One of Michael’s suggestions was to remove all the furniture from the condo to show off its cathedral ceilings and skylights.

She said she thought it would sell better if we emptied it because it would show the space well,” Susan says. “We sold it in five days.”

Moving day was a pleasant process as well. Susan’s six daughters were on hand to help her pack, but one of Fox Run’s preferred moving companies handled the heavy lifting.

“I was settled very nicely almost the first day,” Susan says. “Moving was very easy.”
