It takes a special person to work at Fox Run

Because the community is not just a workplace, but also the home of about 1,200 residents, management takes great care to hire employees who embody Erickson Living’s core values: respect and caring, diversity, friendliness, enthusiasm, integrity, responsibility, excellence, teamwork, and corporate citizenship.

Visitors and new residents to the Erickson Living community in Novi, Mich., frequently remark how friendly the staff is and how they always make a point to greet residents by name and with a smile—a small gesture that goes a long way in creating a supportive atmosphere. It makes the community feel like one big family.

While so many employees at Fox Run go above and beyond to make community members’ lives happier and healthier, three staff members were honored in May for their outstanding performance.

The annual WOW awards are Fox Run’s version of the Academy Awards. Each year, exceptional staff members and departments are honored with a luncheon, award ceremony, and live entertainment.

Three standouts

The 2016 award winners were Antoinette Davenport, Maria Munteanu, and Mike Bootz.

Davenport, an assisted living care associate, received the “Best of the Best” award for consistently raising the bar by creating exceptional resident experiences.

She is known for her compassion, empathy, friendliness, and strong work ethic. Residents report that she brightens their days, and family members feel confident leaving their loved ones in her care.

Munteanu, a home support aide who was the first employee hired in Fox Run’s home health agency 12 years ago, received the “Erickson Living Values” award.

Munteanu always has a smile on her face, and is known for giving out hugs to community members and coworkers. She is positive and caring, and regularly volunteers to take on the most challenging tasks.

Bootz, Fox Run’s executive chef, was honored as “Manager of the Year.” Bootz is the man behind the exceptional culinary experience offered at Fox Run’s on-site restaurants. His dining program has received some of the highest marks of all Erickson Living communities in the annual resident satisfaction survey.

In addition to managing a team that serves up thousands of delicious meals every day, Bootz has a caring spirit and loves to teach fellow dining team members.
