Jean Prince used moving resources available through Erickson Realty and Moving Services to help sell her house and move to Eagle’s Trace.

In the span of a year, Jean Prince lost her husband, sold her house of 37 years, and moved to Eagle’s Trace, the Erickson Living community in West Houston.

“It was a whirlwind,” says Jean. “So much changed in a year.”

In the midst of so much upheaval, Jean relied on the moving assistance offered through Erickson Realty and Moving Services. Haven Benoit is the personal moving consultant at Eagle’s Trace and offers complimentary coordination of moving services, including referrals to real estate agents, senior move managers, and moving companies.

“Haven came to my home in Bunker Hill Village shortly after I reserved an apartment at Eagle’s Trace,” says Jean, a retired registered nurse. “She brought a magnetic board with furniture pieces so we could figure out which furniture pieces I would bring with me and how they would be placed in the new apartment.”

Rightsizing her belongings

Once Jean knew what she was bringing to Eagle’s Trace, she began letting go of the rest.

“I had a grandson who was getting married,” says Jean. “I gave him a lot of the furniture. I also took several carloads to West Houston Assistance Ministries.”

To help with the logistics of moving, Jean hired Lone Star Transitions, a senior move management company recommended by Benoit.

“Crystal and Greg with Lone Star Transitions helped with so many of the details,” says Jean, who moved into her two-bedroom, two-bath, Jackson-style apartment in February 2016.

“On moving day, they washed the linens and made the bed,” she says. “They put down shelf paper in the kitchen. They hung pictures on the wall. They displayed my collection of Chinese eggshell china in the hutch. By five o’clock that evening, everything was in its place, and I was headed down for dinner.”

Quick home sale

To avoid having her home on the market while she moved, Jean opted to list her house after she was already settled at Eagle’s Trace.

Benoit recommended Sandra Parker, an Erickson Living-preferred real estate agent with Martha Turner Sotheby’s.

“We listed the home in April, and it sold almost immediately,” says Jean. “A family had been looking for just the right home in that area for nearly a year.”
