Lantern Hill, the new Erickson Living community that recently opened in New Providence, N.J., has been abuzz with new faces. Not only have residents been moving into their new homes, but several staff members have joined the community.

After a well-attended job fair in April that drew 180 job seekers, Lantern Hill welcomed Pam Marusic as resident services director, Christine Loprete as hospitality team leader, and Gerri Madsen as concierge in June.

“There is magic on the hill in New Providence,” says Director of Human Resources Graham Haskell. “We are thrilled to have received such a wonderful response and are eager to begin hiring from such a talented and diverse workforce.”

New team members

As resident services director, Marusic oversees several departments at Lantern Hill, including hospitality/front desk, concierge, transportation, security, and fitness.

Before joining Erickson Living, she worked in two Northern New Jersey retirement communities in a variety of capacities, including resident services director, health services administrator, and interim executive director. She is also a licensed nursing home administrator in the state of New Jersey.

A resident of New Providence, she received her bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and master’s degree in gerontology from Baylor University.

As hospitality team leader, Loprete oversees the daily activities at Lantern Hill’s lobby desk. She joined Erickson Living this year after working in the hospitality field in hotels, restaurants, and senior living throughout New Jersey.

A resident of Scotch Plains, Loprete received her bachelor’s degree in public administration from Kean University.

As concierge, Madsen coordinates daily activities and events with Lantern Hill residents.

Most recently, she worked for Pathways, a nonprofit organization that provides services for women suffering from cancer.

She has lived in New Providence for more than 20 years and received her bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta.

“We are excited to welcome Pam, Christine, and Gerri to our dedicated and talented team at Lantern Hill,” says Executive Director Patricia Swan. “They have outstanding experience and are passionate about our mission of creating a community where our residents can enjoy a dynamic and secure retirement lifestyle.”

Attractive work environment

Lantern Hill is hiring for positions in facilities, housekeeping, hospitality, security, transportation, and dining services.

Haskell says many of the job fair attendees were attracted to Lantern Hill’s work environment, competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the community’s mission of helping its residents live better lives.

Lantern Hill expects to hire more than 200 employees this year.
