Maris Grove Sales Counselor Kimberly Janson frequently hears people say of moving to Maris Grove, “We wish we had moved sooner.”

Maris Grove has attracted so many people to its carefree lifestyle that it is 99% occupied.

“But,” says Sales Counselor Kimberly Janson, “we want people to know that we have apartment homes coming available every month.”

One-bedroom and two-bedroom, one-bath styles currently have shorter waits at the Erickson Living community in Delaware County, Pa.

“For people just now joining our priority list (see below), the average wait is two years. But depending on what styles become available and how open you are to different floor plans, the wait might be just a few months.”

A short wait can feel intimidating to people faced with lots of downsizing. But Maris Grove also has a solution for that: priority list members can call upon the services of Suzanne McAllister, the community’s personal moving consultant.

Through Erickson Realty and Moving Services, McAllister offers complimentary coordination of prospective realty and moving needs, including downsizing, home staging, packing, and selection of a real estate professional.

A myth persists that moving to a retirement community will rob you of your independence.

But Maris Grove residents tell Janson they’ve become more independent and no longer rely on children or neighbors to do things for them or take them places.

Some residents even give up the expense and hassle of maintaining their cars. Instead, they use Maris Grove’s Transportation Department and its Trips and Travel group.

“It’s very freeing to no longer have to travel alone, make your own trip arrangements, or worry about driving at night,” says Janson. “So people get out and do more.”

They also live in a safer environment. Maris Grove provides round-the-clock security and a 24/7 maintenance crew.

Instead of climbing a stepladder to change their ceiling light fixture bulbs, residents simply call the maintenance team. And they leave raking and shoveling to Maris Grove’s grounds crew.

“Those services prevent accidents and prolong independence,” Janson says. “People who live at Maris Grove live fuller lives.”

Join the list. Shorten your wait.

The priority list, composed of people who plan to move to an Erickson Living community, allows prospective residents to reserve their place in line for the apartment home of their choice. All it takes to join is a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person nonrefundable application fee.

When prospective residents submit their deposit, that date is noted as their priority list date. Once their preferred floor plan style becomes available, the sales team gives first right of refusal to priority list members based on their joining date.

The date is valid at any of Erickson Living’s retirement communities.

In 2017, Maris Grove will open its third neighborhood. Construction is well under way, and priority list members are the first to learn about updates and apartment styles. “There’s one list for all,” Janson says.

“Joining the list lets prospective residents plan ahead and downsize. As they attend exclusive priority list events and get to know their future neighbors, they feel at home at Maris Grove and eager to live its lifestyle,” Janson adds.

As a result, some decide to move earlier than they’d planned.

And many residents tell Janson, “We wish we had moved sooner.”
